Chief of Operations

The Sunrise Project is searching for an experienced Chief of Operations to join our rapidly growing team.

About the role

Reporting to, and working closely with, the Co-Executive Directors, the Chief Operating Officer is a newly created senior leadership role with overall responsibility for the rapidly growing operations of the Sunrise Project.

While the program teams are focused on their mission to drive the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy, this role will lead the operational activities and ensure the organisational systems are tight, lean, and fit for purpose. Spanning financial management, risk, and compliance through to organisational systems, IT, and HR functions, this role requires big picture strategic thinking as well as serious attention to detail.

Global Investor Program Director 

The Investor Program Director is a new senior role within The Sunrise Project leadership team that is responsible for managing the inception, design and delivery of major program strategies to shift the global finance system on climate change, and proactively contributes to the overall strategic direction and vibrant organisational culture of the Sunrise Project. This role is one of three program directors who manage senior staff across multiple program areas within our overall finance program.

The role of the Program Director is to take responsibility for developing strong program strategies that support movement partners to create effective campaigns and initiatives that create real world change towards our shared goals, while also ensuring that the movement is more than the sum of its parts.

Environmental Impacts Analyst

The Sunrise Project is searching for an experienced Environmental Impacts Analyst to join our research team.

About the role

The Australian fossil fuel sector is vast. The industry has a hugely significant environmental impact stretching beyond its climate change implications. The role of the Environmental Impacts Analyst is to research, investigate and understand the environmental footprints of existing and proposed fossil fuel projects and their consequences for both local communities and the broader Australian society. The Analyst will monitor the assessment process for planned new projects and scrutinise the regulatory compliance of existing operations.

The Analyst, equipped with this information and insight, in collaboration with other members of the Research Team, will produce high quality and timely research to support Sunrise Project teams and partners as they work to accelerate the global transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Digital Campaigner – Global Finance Program

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for two digital campaigners to join our small but growing team and provide support for our directed network campaigns to shift finance away from fossil fuels.

Together with our network of partner NGOs, we’re running several campaigns to shift the global financial system out of fossil fuels. Our insurance campaign aims to get the world’s biggest insurance companies to stop underwriting and investing in fossil fuel projects and companies. Our asset manager campaign aims to push BlackRock, the world’s biggest investor, to shift out of fossil fuels. Our campaigns on central and private banks aim to push them out of fossil fuel financing by using a variety of pressures.

We support networks of organisations to work together to achieve outcomes that would not be possible by individual organisations acting alone. We expect all roles at Sunrise to actively support the capacity building of these networks and partner organisations.

Location: We’re looking to hire one digital campaigner to be based in the United States; remote. And a second digital campaigner to be based in Europe; remote. Any eligible candidate must have full working rights in the country from which they are applying.

About the role

We’re a growing team working on a successful and exciting network campaign to pressure some of the largest U.S. financial institutions to stop fueling the climate crisis. We work in collaborative teams and in close partnership with a diverse set of partners and allies across the US and the rest of the world. We’re looking for an experienced campaigner to help manage and grow our existing campaign while contributing new insights on strategy, tactical ideas, and networks of potential new partners.

Location
